Mule of the World is the first in a series of poetry books. This inaugural title is written to women, especially Black women. The title is a reference from Zora Neal Hurston's And Their Eyes Were Watching God. Hurston refers to the Black woman as the "mule of the world" for the treatment and suffering that she withstands. This collection of poems is at times light and warm, other times it is sorrowful and contemplative yet always hopeful.
