50 Practical Mindfulness Games for Children, Teens, and Families
This guide offers 50 simple games designed to cultivate mindfulness in kids while developing essential life skills. Author Susan Kaiser Greenland, creator of the Inner Kids mindful awareness program, provides parents, caregivers, and teachers with activities that build what she calls the new "A, B, C's"—Attention, Balance, and Compassion.
Four Categories of Mindfulness Activities
The book organizes games into four distinct types, each targeting specific developmental areas:
Anchor Games develop concentration and help children learn to focus their attention on a single point, building the foundation for sustained focus in school and daily life.
Visualization Games encourage kindness and focus through guided imagery, helping children develop empathy and maintain mental clarity.
Analytical Games cultivate clear thinking and problem-solving skills, teaching kids to approach challenges with a calm, methodical mindset.
Awareness Games build sensory awareness and emotional regulation, giving children tools to identify and manage their feelings while gaining insight into themselves, others, and relationships.
Benefits for the Whole Family
While designed for kids, these games prove equally transformative for adults. Greenland encourages parents and caregivers to develop their own Attention, Balance, and Compassion alongside their children. Our mindfulness practice directly impacts everyone in our lives, especially our kids.
