Menace on the Mountain

Set against the backdrop of the final days of the Civil War comes an adventure of true grit. 14-year-old Jamie McIver's been the man of the house since his father left to fight in the Confederate Army. While his dad's been away, Jamie and his family have fought starvation, wild animals and Poss Timmerlake an Army deserter who's trying to steal their land. Just when things couldn't get worse, Poss and his cutthroat band of outlaws burn and plunder their way through the countryside, using the McIvers' mountaintop home as a hideout. When his father returns, he and Jamie find themselves fighting a war of their own in an attempt to save their home.
