Dietrich, Marlene: - Marlene Dietrich (1901-1992) was a German-American actress best known for her performances in The Blue Angel (1930), Shanghai Express (1932), I Love a Soldier (1936), Manpower (1941), and The Lady is Willing (1942). During World War II, Dietrich became well-known for her efforts to support Allied troops, including performing on USO tours abroad and touring domestically to sell war bonds, and was awarded the Medal of Freedom for her war efforts by the US government in 1947.
