Bobo Davenport was a down-on-his-luck coach when he arrived at Edmonson County High School in August 1975. In his 25-year career, none of Bobo's teams had ever made it to the Kentucky state tournament. His new team, the Edmonson County Wildcats, had never before advanced to the state tournament either. In Bobo's first year, Edmonson County, a small, rural high school near Mammoth Cave National Park, shocked the commonwealth in the most thrilling state tournament in history. Bobo's Edmonson County squad overcame long odds to end atop some of the most talented teams in Kentucky's storied high school basketball history.
