Caitlin McCall is hot on the trail of her first exclusive story. She knows it's a good one: her contact has turned up dead.

She doesn't mind going out on a limb for a front page story, but with the corpses beginning to pile up, a break-in or two, and her very own stalker, Caitlin quickly finds herself out of her depth and out of luck. All of this just as two new men arrive in her life. She can handle Tom, the policeman who thinks she might know more than she's letting on, but Henry is quite another matter.

Written in the days before Twitter and 24-hour-news websites, when newspaper journalists broke the news, Little White Lies is a fast-paced comedy about trying to pull off the scoop of the century without ending up dead.

Author Carol Burns is a journalist-turned-writer who, like Caitlin, began her career in regional newspapers.

Burns, Carol: - Carol Burns grew up in the Midlands and trained in regional newspapers before going freelance and undertaking a second degree and MA in Fine Art. She now lives in Cornwall with her husband and son. She is editor of Cornwall Life magazine.Smith, Katharine: - "I have a background in IT and charity project management, but I've always loved writing and decided to train as a proofreader. This I did and I began work with the Amazing People Club series, which developed into a Managing Editor role. This was in 2009. Gradually I realised I had the skills required to fulfil the whole publishing lifecycle. I also completed my first novel, Writing the Town Read, and became disillusioned with searching for an agent/publisher so I decided to explore the option of independent publishing. I was lucky enough to find Michael Clutterbuck, author of the Steaming Into series (set on steam railways) whose book Steaming into the Firing Line was my first Heddon Publishing title. I have since published two further books for Mike and at the time of writing I now have a further 15 authors on my books. While for many authors I undertake the whole publishing process - developmental editing, copy-editing, proofreading, formatting (print and digital), publishing and cover design - or organising cover design - I am also very happy to provide any of these as individual services to authors. In my freelance career I have worked with clients from Masters students whose first language is not English to small and medium-sized businesses, editing, proofreading, copywriting and ghostwriting. Whilst the majority of my work with Heddon Publishing has been on works of fiction, I have also worked on non-fiction books and publications. I have received excellent feedback from the authors I've worked with, many of whom have become friends.
