Arnleif Jensen was born in Norway in 1919, in a little fishing village. The family emigrated to the U.S. and settled in Brooklyn NY, when he was 8 years old. This began his education and Americanization. He attended Brooklyn Technical High School and the University of Minnesota, earning a B.E.E. degree, and a commission as Ensign in the US Naval Reserve. Two months after graduation he was ordered to active duty in North Africa, where he served as a Communications Officer and wrote these letters home. After the war, he worked for 34 years as an engineer and manager for Eastman Kodak Company in Rochester, NY, mainly on Government contracts and space optical equipment. He has written two autobiographical accounts of his life: A Son of Norway, his Memories 1919-1946, and 1946-1980. Currently retired and living in South Carolina.
