Along with Eddie Jefferson who he cited as a major influence, King Pleasure became famous as a master of vocalese, where a singer sings words to a famous instrumental solo. He first achieved wide popularity by singing "Moody's Mood for Love" based on a James Moody saxophone solo on "I'm in the Mood for Love". Released in 1952, "Moody's Mood for Love" became a jazz classic. This rare solo album finds King Pleasure in rare form and features the classics "Moody's Mood for Love," and "Parker's Mood."
