She passes a border barrier for a hostile environment and answers questions from an abrupt guard speaking in another language. In her new autobiography, Journey into Darkness, Kathy recounts the two years she spent on evangelistic mission trips, secretly carrying in Bibles to give to villagers and citizens in Communist controlled Europe and Russia during the mid-1970's. Her participation in the underground ministry exposed her to unbearable religious persecution bestowed to those who professed a love of God, along with the harassment she and her travel partners encountered while carting their "contraband". Yet in the midst of the risks with smuggling Bibles, she witnessed true faith shine through in others from distant countries, realizing there are no language barriers when it comes to the words of Jesus Christ.
