Details: JOE DOWELL famously topped the US charts in 1961 with his very first record, a cover of Elvis's 'Wooden Heart (Muss I Denn)', a novelty adaptation of an old German Folk song, from Presley's' "G. I. Blues" movie. Unfortunately for Dowell, he enjoyed few international sales because the Presley version was a huge worldwide hit, although it hadn't been issued as a single in the U. S. Joe nonetheless also made the U. S. charts with a couple of follow-ups, 'The Bridge Of Love' and 'Little Red Rented Rowboat'. The compilation comprises his two LPs, "Wooden Heart" and "Joe Dowell Sings The German American Hits", plus the pick of his singles released during 1961-62. None of this material has been readily available on CD for many years, making this a very welcome release, indeed.
