Description
Susan Salidor's first book for young children is based on her song, I've Got Peace In My Fingers. The joyous, evocative pictures beautifully illustrate the idea that all of us, even the youngest among us, can be makers and messengers of peace. The book includes an empowering "This book belongs to..." page along with the sheet music for the song. The book can be read, chanted or sung, and the interwoven stories told in pictures give children opportunities to imagine how they, too, can help the world be a kinder, gentler place.
About the Author
Salidor, Susan: - Susan Salidor is a singer, songwriter and music specialist living in Chicago. She, along with husband Jay Rehak, has produced eight award-winning recordings for young children. This is her first book for children and it is based on her original song of the same name. Susan performs her music at libraries, school and festivals and, in her work as a music specialist, teaches over 400 preschoolers each week throughout the school year. She has designed in-service programs and music workshops for early childhood educators, presenting her programs at educational conferences in Chicago as well as on both coasts. Her original songs have been recorded and/or performed by other children's musicians and have become part of early elementary school curriculum. The song "I've Got Peace In My Fingers" appears in Rise Again, an internationally-recognized songbook published by Sing Out! Susan also composed the score for the play "Noah's Ark: The Music," written by husband Jay. Her music can be found wherever music is downloaded and streamed (Spotify, iTunes, Amazon, CDBaby). Susan hopes this book honors the voices of the children who have carried her song around the world.
