Horan, Joy: - Joy Horan grew up in one of the most beautiful parts of the world: Bondi Beach, Australia! Looking from the outside in, it was possible to think that her life looked idyllic. However, trouble and chaos seemed to follow her at every turn. She often displayed a deluge of emotional extremes. Some of the labels that she was identified with were "distracted", "emotional", "accident prone", "talkative", and "very naughty".She learnt at a young age to mask her emotions and her coping mechanisms were to simply live in dreamworld and a false reality. An adult diagnosis of ADHD definitely gave her self-compassion! It was helpful to finally be able to understand the huge range of emotions that she had dealt with over her lifetime.Knowledge, training and determination has led her to putting some helpful procedures into place.Joy has always had a desire to help others as she knows full well the difficulties she has faced. However, she has also been able to hone in on the positive areas that accompany ADHD. With empathy being a major attribute she hopes to help others embrace and understand some of the characteristics and sensory issues that are connected with Neurodivergence.Horan, Ellie: - Ellie Horan spent much of her early life in selected solitude, deep in imagination but also within social struggle and emotional expression. School was hard for Ellie as she felt that she didn't fit in. Ellie continually found herself in a world of her own, creating imaginary games and living in a self-made fantasy.It was later in life that it was discovered that the family traits were wall-to-wall Neurodivergence and so Ellie set out to learn all she could which aided her in recognising signs of Autism and ADHD in herself and also her son.As a single mum she has discovered powerful techniques through experience and research, which has led her on a journey of interest and passion to impart some of the communication methods she has learnt along the way. Her desire is to help and show parents/carers and their kids that it is possible to hold all the feelings for people in our lives as well as ourselves and to move through our big feelings with compassion and understanding.Barber, Janice: - Janice Barber was born in Ontario, Canada and raised in a household with strong Filipino traditions. Due to the commonly held belief that art is just for fun, she quickly learned that it was not a career worth pursuing. However, Janice was unable to deny this passion. No matter where her path took her, she always found herself back at the easel, drawing and painting. This was her realm.Within several years of weaving in and out of unfulfilling jobs and setbacks, Janice immersed herself in formal studies from completing Art Fundamentals at Sheridan College, a diploma in graphic design at Ontario College of Art and Design, and finally back at Sheridan College for her most sought-out degree in Illustration.Her love and pursuit of art has paid off as her illustrations and designs can be found in children's story books, animal portraits, dreamy landscapes, high tea menus and her favourite desserts.She is now settled in Paris, Ontario, in a century-old home in the country that often needs a bit of patching up; it is shared by chickens, cats and a goofy golden retriever. At the centre of the creative chaos of everyday life are her husband and daughter who are learning how to overcome the challenges of living with ADHD and two sons who are complete opposites. It is loud and oftentimes messy, creating the necessity to embrace compassion for one another, along with the awareness of neurodivergence and the importance of being united. Life is full, and no two days are ever the same! However, it is through this lens that Janice combines experience, education and pursuit of authenticity that helps her create in different and unexpected ways.
