Walgren, Maureen: - First time author, Maureen Walgren is a registered nurse working in an elementary school in Glen Ellyn, IL. She and her husband, Doug, have been raising their family in Naperville, IL since 2004. Nursing is a second career for Maureen. She obtained her associate's in nursing in 2010 and went on to complete her bachelor's in nursing in 2013 while working full time and raising three kids. Prior to nursing, Maureen had worked in the field of Aviation. Her first college degree in 1994 is from Southern Illinois University in flight management. She worked in the field of aviation for about 6 years as a pilot, flight instructor, and systems engineer. Walgren has a unique story to tell in Invisible Threads. Her experience working in a public school gives a perspective and level of knowledge not known to most. Her training as both a pilot and a nurse gave her a unique set of skills to handle her trauma through careful assessment, thoughtful decision making and remaining calm in a crisis. Her experience as a former psychiatric nurse adds depth to the story of what Corey experienced on that fateful day as well as how she overcame the intense grief and found a way to not only live with the tragedy but to find joy again. Invisible Threads is more than a memoir-it's a powerful testament to resilience, healing, and the extraordinary strength found in the most unexpected places.
