Introductory Lectures on PsychoAnalysis - Paperback

Introductory Lectures on PsychoAnalysis is one of Sigmund Freud's most influential and accessible works, presenting a comprehensive introduction to the theory and practice of psychoanalysis for a general audience. First delivered as a series of public lectures between 1915 and 1917 at the University of Vienna, this seminal work offers a gateway into Freud's groundbreaking ideas on the human mind, unconscious motivation, and the structure of personality. Divided into three main sections-The Psychology of Errors, The Dream, and General Theory of the Neuroses-Freud explores core psychoanalytic concepts through vivid examples and plain language. He delves into topics such as parapraxes (slips of the tongue), dream interpretation, repression, transference, resistance, and the significance of childhood experiences in shaping adult behavior. Freud also addresses the mechanisms of neuroses and the clinical techniques used to treat them. Not merely a scientific manual, this book is also a window into Freud's evolving thought, rich with intellectual rigor, cultural insight, and philosophical depth. It bridges the gap between academic theory and everyday experience, making it essential reading for both psychology students and curious lay readers. A cornerstone of modern psychological literature, Introductory Lectures on PsychoAnalysis laid the foundation for contemporary psychotherapy and continues to provoke debate, inspire analysis, and illuminate the hidden workings of the human psyche.
