History remembers events. Poetry remembers souls.

In the Beginning: Broken Chronicles, Living Poetics is a powerful collection of contemporary poetry that blends spoken word, literary poetry, biblical imagery, and prophetic reflection into an unforgettable reading experience. Through vivid language and fearless imagination, Winston Cobb explores themes of faith, race, identity, justice, suffering, hope, memory, and redemption, inviting readers to confront difficult questions while discovering enduring truths.

Inspired by Scripture, history, music, and the rhythms of the spoken-word tradition, these poems journey from Genesis to Revelation, from personal lament to collective memory, and from brokenness toward restoration. Pieces such as "Tablets for the Last Bloodlines" and "Boarding Pass to Babylon" challenge readers to examine the human condition through a lens of compassion, conviction, and spiritual insight.

Ideal for readers of literary poetry, Christian poetry, spoken-word performance, theology, and social reflection, this collection speaks to anyone seeking beauty, meaning, and hope in a fractured world. Whether read devotionally, studied academically, or experienced aloud, In the Beginning: Broken Chronicles, Living Poetics offers a timeless meditation on humanity's shared story-one that refuses to ignore the past while pointing toward redemption.

Cobb, W. L.: - Winston Cobb is a poet, spoken-word artist, musician, theologian, and educator whose work explores the intersections of faith, history, memory, justice, and the human condition. His artistic journey began in music. A jazz trumpeter, Winston graduated from the Hartford Conservatory in 1998 and continued his studies at the Hartt School of Music (now the Jackie McLean Institute of Jazz). While immersed in jazz, he discovered another lifelong calling: poetry. He began writing in 1997 and was introduced to spoken word in 1999, where his distinctive voice quickly earned recognition within Connecticut's emerging performance poetry community. As a member of Hartford, Connecticut's first National Poetry Slam team, Winston represented the city on the national stage and competed as an individual performer at the 2000 National Poetry Slam in Providence, Rhode Island. Over the next five years, he became a featured performer at colleges, universities, conferences, high schools, community organizations, and mental health facilities throughout the Northeast. His performances included appearances at Central Connecticut State University and Amherst College, where he shared the stage with acclaimed poets, including Tony Medina, Luis Reyes Rivera, and members of the Nuyorican Poets Café community. Winston's academic background reflects the breadth of his interests and calling. He holds undergraduate degrees in Record Production and Music Studies and in Human Services, along with a Master of Divinity from Liberty University. His scholarship and creative work are informed by theology, music, philosophy, history, and a lifelong commitment to understanding the complexities of the human experience. Broken Chronicles: Living Poetics is his debut poetry collection-a body of work that fuses the cadence of jazz, the urgency of spoken word, and the depth of prophetic reflection. Through poems that wrestle with suffering, identity, race, redemption, and hope, Winston invites readers into a conversation that is both deeply personal and profoundly universal.
