Moten, James M.: - James Marvin Moten was born November 12th, 1947, in Crockett, Texas about nine miles from the Louisiana border. He is the tenth child of fourteen born of the union of Spencer Moten Sr, and Arlishie Harris Moten. Around the age of five his mother took him, his older brother Peter and baby sister Delma with her, and hitch hiked a ride with a friendly Caucasian couple from New York who took the impoverished family all the way to Tucson, Arizona.
