In this deeply personal and transformative debut collection, queer Mexican immigrant scholar, professor, and mother Dra. Hortencia Jimenez invites readers on a journey of healing, reclamation, and radical self-love.
Blending English, Spanish, and Spanglish, and lived experience, these poems explore identity, immigration, culture, food, ancestry, queerness, joy, embodiment, and the sacred work of returning home to oneself. From inner child healing to ancestral connection, this collection speaks to anyone who has ever felt too much, too loud, or not enough, and is ready to reclaim their voice.
Fifty percent of this book's proceeds support the Mariposa Rising Scholarship, an endowed scholarship for undocumented students transferring from Hartnell College to the university. Through poetry, community healing becomes collective healing.
