The people of Pickleberry need nothing, because they have fresh air, pink and orange sunsets over rolling fields of wheat, and monsters. Lots and lots of monsters. Though the monsters tend to keep to themselves. The townsfolk are too busy with their farmer markets and knitting circles to notice. Blissfully, willingly ignorant, the people of Pickleberry know better than to ask too many questions. Stay out of Black Bile Woods. Never travel at night. Never, ever, visit the bar on the top of the hill.

Naomi Novak wished she was fortunate enough to be that ignorant, but she had never known fortune a day in her life. A long ago resident of Pickleberry, Naomi left many years ago. She lived, she laughed, and she loved. And then she was brought back to the town without any say in the matter. Only problem is, she can't seem to remember a damn thing about it.

A slave to her occupation, she is called back to Pickleberry to investigate a series of murders. She's not a detective. She's more or less a henchman for an organization of sadistic vampires known as The Den. When The Den says "jump" she doesn't ask how high, just that her feet better leave the ground. With the help of the local law and a paranormal enthusiast, she sets out to uncover who, or what, is killing the people of Pickleberry and why on earth do they need their hearts?

This Supernatural meets Twin Peaks mashup is a balanced blend of Ozarks fantasy folklore, crypids, and sarcastic humor. Home to Pickleberry is a paranormal fantasy set in a charming Ozarks town full of werewolves, vampires, and demons, to name a few. Equipped with only her smart mouth and her shadow magic abilities, Naomi has to solve the murders, please her vampire bosses, and try not to let the secrets of her past put her family in danger.

"A blend of horror, suspense, and humor, Home to Pickleberry is an entertaining supernatural thriller where secrets meet and mingle, and dark entities have their hands in every venture. I loved Naomi's mix of bad-ass and empathy, and her unusual creature-features bring exciting new elements to the supernatural investigator concept that I found super-appealing. Her growing found-family of friends (and frenemies) wormed their way into my heart as with their help Naomi navigated the present murder investigation while also unraveling the surprisingly relevant mysteries of her past. The answer was something bigger than anyone imagined - and the ending so satisfying that I hope there's more to come!" Casey Laine, Editor
