Hobby Trumps Heartache: A Long Hard Journey to Manhood and Old Age - Paperback

Finally, a story with a beginning, middle and end which will knock the bobby socks off every reader, leaving many humbled. Clisham's delicate masterful behind the scenes interviewing skills have led Mullan to verbalize tale after tale of the touching torture of struggling to hold on; to just grow up in search of sanity. This first person narrative pulls at one's heart strings through his lonely quiet plea and fear to maybe be noticed. Can a nobody become somebody? Can a failing student succeed? Can a stumbling reader survive in today's hustle for success? Can alcohol be a useful self-medication? Do Irish Catholic families toe the line of the Commandments? How does a potential Asperger's spectrum recluse carve out a personal niche without meds? Mike Mullan's memoir will remind you sometimes of Huck Finn, sometimes of Forest Gump or sometimes even Salinger's Holden Caufield as a geriatric. Clisham taps Mullan's remarkably detailed, deeply private memories to share his sad story of staying safe from society. This literary gem honors all who struggle in the trenches of seeming to not measure up to the next guy or gal! An Ending one will never see coming!!!! Spoiler ALERT. Do NOT tell your friends . . . let them take their own car ride with Justice of the Peace Charlie Mullan's kid, plain reliable Mike.
