It was much larger area than present-day Bourbon County, as its original territory included the counties of: Bracken, Boone, Campbell, Estill, Fleming, Floyd, Greenup, Harrison, Kenton, Mason, Montgomery, Lewis, Nicholas, Pendleton, Powell and Robertson.
