Kenneth J. Panton is Professor Emeritus at the University of Southern Mississippi, USA. A graduate of the University of Edinburgh and King's College, University of London, he taught at London Guildhall University before moving to the United States to lead Southern Mississippi's British Studies program, taking 200 graduate and undergraduate students to the United Kingdom every summer. His publications include seven previous contributions to the Historical Dictionary series.

Keith A. Cowlard is head of educational partnerships at the University of Greenwich in London, UK. He is the co-author of Historical Dictionary of the United Kingdom (Scarecrow Press, 1998).
