High Desert Payback - Paperback

A dying man's promise. A cartel's missing millions. An ex-lawman with nothing left to lose.

Mercer Sample traded his US Marshal star for a quiet retirement and a battered Chevy Silverado. But the remote Arizona borderlands forgive zero mistakes and hold zero grudges. When Mercer stumbles upon a burning Department of Justice transport van in the middle of the desert, he inherits a dying deputy's final request-and a prisoner who just put a massive crosshair on both their backs.

Julian Vance isn't a typical street-level smuggler. He's a bespoke-suited cartel accountant who just rerouted fifty million dollars of syndicate cryptocurrency into a digital black hole. Now, Raul "The Bishop" Bispo-a ruthless cartel enforcer with a heavily armed hit squad-is hunting them down to balance the ledger and extract the password from Vance's skull.

Outgunned, off the grid, and hunted across the unforgiving badlands, Mercer and his terrified, white-collar prisoner are forced to make a final stand in the abandoned copper-mining ghost town of San Felice. What begins as a desperate federal transport mission explodes into a relentless, bloody siege.

Mercer possesses two handguns, a shattered knee, and an unbreakable promise. The Bishop possesses an army.

High Desert Payback is a blistering, action-packed modern western noir thriller. Delivering hardboiled crime fiction, relentless suspense, and razor-sharp dialogue in the tradition of Elmore Leonard and John D. MacDonald, this gritty Arizona cartel thriller is a must-read for fans of No Country for Old Men, Sicario, and Justified.
