Most people have received no training in how to navigate end-of-life issues and caring for elderly loved ones. My hope for you is that this booklet will provide some useful and realistic information as you tackle this process. I hope you can remember: While you may be the only family member or friend who can act in this capacity, you are not alone in living through this process. There are many resources out there. Admittedly, some are more difficult to access than others. Do what makes sense to you and what works for you, your loved one and your family. Take care of yourself; take time for yourself. I do love the concept - heard during the safety demonstration on any airline flight - "Put your own oxygen mask on first, before helping those around you." If you can't function, you're not able to help those who need you.
