Kawakami Mieczkowski, Seiko: - Seiko Kawakami Mieczkowski is a native of Hokkaido, Japan, where she taught in the Otaru City school system. She earned two bachelor's degrees, from the Otaru School of Economics and Commerce and from Berea College in Kentucky, and a master's degree from Boston College. For nearly twenty years, she was an assistant professor of Japanese language at Eisenhower College and at Binghamton University. Her articles on Japan have appeared in Asian Thought and Society, and she has published numerous book reviews on Japan for Choice and Libraries Unlimited. She currently resides in Cocoa Beach, Florida.
