Gasparilla and The Winds of Fortune - Paperback

Brace yourselves to be transported into a thrilling tale of adventure, romance, and intrigue set against the backdrop of historical events. The narrative revolves around the lives of two remarkable women, Valentina and Bianca, who find themselves entangled in a web of daring escapades following their encounter with the legendary pirate Gasparilla.

As the story unfolds, Valentina and Bianca, aided by their rescuers and sailors Andrew and Patrick from the USS Enterprise, embark on a journey of peril and discovery. Their quest leads them to uncover a fabled treasure hidden amidst the tumultuous events of Cezar's pirate attack on an island near Naples, Florida. Despite facing challenges, they salvage a portion of the treasure, rumored to be an astonishing 20 tons of silver.

Their journey takes them to Norfolk, Virginia, aboard the USS Enterprise, where they forge unexpected bonds with Andrew and Patrick. These relationships blossom into romances that culminate in engagements, postponed until their return to Spain and reunion with their families.

To secure their newfound wealth, Valentina and Bianca devise a clever scheme involving a sailboat named the Sanibella and a voyage back to Spain. Under the guise of exporting coffee, they smuggle the treasure into Cadiz, Spain, where Valentina's brother Victor facilitates its conversion into currency. They wisely invest in Seville's renowned sherry and wine, which they sail back to the United States, legitimizing their fortune without revealing its illicit origins.

The tale further explores their land acquisition on Sanibel Island, influenced by earlier interactions with John Gomez, a survivor of Gasparilla's crew. Here, they build a prosperous life, engaging in agriculture and establishing successful businesses that endure through generations. Their legacy, rooted in the mysterious treasure's origins, remains a closely guarded secret, adding layers of intrigue to their enduring tale of resilience and prosperity.

In "Gasparilla and The Winds of Fortune," Dennis G Duncan masterfully blends historical fact and fictional narrative, creating a captivating story of courage, love, and the enduring allure of hidden treasures.
