From Earth and Sky: A Collection of Science Fiction and Fantasy Stories

From Earth and Sky delivers what author Gerald L. Coleman calls "Nappy Science Fiction & Fantasy"—a bold collection of short stories that centers Black protagonists across the expansive landscape of speculative fiction. This paperback anthology takes readers on a journey through space, time, and imagination, exploring themes that range from cosmic horror to climate catastrophe.

Stories That Span the Black Fantastic

This collection features a space-faring archaeologist who uncovers an ancient terror on a desolate moon, an immortal who hunts infernal creatures, and a celestial being who lands on a polluted planet destroyed by climate change to render judgement on its inhabitants. Each story showcases Coleman's ability to blend science fiction and fantasy elements while maintaining a distinct cultural perspective that enriches the genre.

Masterful Storytelling and Language

New York Times Bestselling author A.J. Hartley describes Coleman's writing style as featuring "Brilliant, incisive language wielded with wit and delicacy. A lightsaber working like a scalpel." This precision in language elevates the collection beyond standard genre fare, creating narratives that are both entertaining and thought-provoking. Coleman's contribution to science fiction and fantasy demonstrates how centering diverse voices expands the possibilities of speculative storytelling.

Perfect for Fans of Speculative Fiction

Whether you're drawn to space exploration narratives, fantasy adventures featuring immortal characters, or climate fiction that examines humanity's future, this anthology offers something for every science fiction and fantasy reader. The collection works equally well for readers new to the Black Fantastic movement and longtime fans of Afrofuturism and culturally-centered speculative fiction.

From Earth and Sky stands as an engaging contribution to contemporary science fiction and fantasy literature, offering stories that carry readers from earth to sky while challenging conventional genre boundaries.
