Tom?s González was born in 1950 in Medell?n, Colombia. He studied philosophy and worked in a Bogot? nightclub. The club's owner published In the Beginning Was the Sea, his first novel, in 1983. After twenty years living in New York and Miami, Gonz?lez returned to Colombia, where he now lives.His books are published in Spanish by Alfaguara. Andrea Rosenberg is a translator from Spanish and Portuguese. Among her full-length translations are Tom?s Gonz?lez's Difficult Light and The Storm, In?s Pedrosa's In Your Hands, and Aura Xilonen's The Gringo Champion. Her translation of Marcelo D'Salete's graphic novel Run for It: Stories of Slaves Who Fought for Their Freedom won an Eisner Award. She holds an MFA in literary translation and an MA in Spanish from the University of Iowa, and she has been the recipient of awards and grants from the Fulbright Program, the American Literary Translators Association, among others.
