A native of St. John's, Dr. Derek Wilton received BSc and PhD degrees from Memorial University of Newfoundland and Labrador and an MSc from the University of British Columbia. Derek is an Honorary Research Professor at MUN (after 35 years as professor in Earth Sciences) and a part-time Faculty Researcher at College of the North Atlantic. His research centres on the study of mineral deposits, geochemistry, and the history of geological exploration, mainly in Newfoundland and Labrador, and he has published numerous academic papers and reports. He is a Fellow of Geoscientists Canada and the Royal Canadian Geographical Society.
Collins, Michael A. J.: - Born in the UK, Dr. Michael Collins studied in both the sciences and education, receiving a BSc and MSc from Southampton University, an MEd from Memorial University of Newfoundland and Labrador, and a PhD from Keele in the UK. An avid explorer of Newfoundland's natural beauty, he has written and educated others on the subject, sharing his love of our environment.
