His professional career left him little time to research his first wife's family history until retirement. Geoff's interest in Australian and European history, conditions faced by immigrants to Australia from post-war Europe and the disaster to the Jewish people caused by the Holocaust was focused by his wife's written memories and stories about her father and his brothers. This was expanded with the information and photos supplied from her cousins and uncles.
