ENGLISH DESCRIPTION

An intense and unforgettable autobiographical account, offering the influences and keys to Camila Sosa's writing, the new literary phenomenon of Latin America.

Filled with rage and poetry, this is the unflinching story of Camila Sosa Villada's own life, her origins, and her painful childhood, a hidden female identity battered by her father's alcoholic fury; of her experience as a travesti who encounters prostitution but also success in the theater, and from there the practice of writing, which can only be radical and intense, in search of an impossible form of healing:

"I write so that a story may be known. The story of my travestismo, of my family, of my childhood sadness, of all that premature sadness that was my family, my father's alcoholism, my mother's hardships. The moves that forever separated me from friends, from the atmosphere of my rooms, from the familiarity of courtyards, from the safety of a hiding place. I write to give voice to the images that filled my childhood. I also write about my family's struggle against poverty, a battle that devastated us and left us filled with resentment, heartbreak, and indifference, all against all."
