Sanchez, Richard A.: - The author is a lifelong resident of Tampa, Florida, and has a great interest in historical topics related to Tampa Bay and the state of Florida. He spent seventeen years volunteering with the State Park Service at Egmont Key and was president of the volunteer organization, the Egmont Key Alliance, for fifteen years. He has spent many years gathering facts and stories about the island to write this book and present it to the readers in a different way, as a series of personal stories. The author worked in various telecom jobs for over thirty-five years at GTE and then Verizon. His final career was in information technology at the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office. He is retired now and spends time writing on historical topics in the Bay Area. He also enjoys outdoor activities such as scuba diving and kayaking. He volunteers with the Tampa Bay History Center and is a member of the Tampa Rough Riders working with the Historical Committee.
