Edmond Hamilton (October 21, 1904 - February 1, 1977) was one of the leading science fiction authors of the pulp era of the 30's and 40's. He specialized in the "space opera" style of writing, but also produced works of horror and detective fiction. Later in life he wrote for DC Comics, especially for the characters of Superman and Batman. He was married to the author and screen writer Leigh Brackett.
