The population of the world was about 2 billion when I was born in 1921, and it is 6.5 billion this year (2006). With about 120 million now being added each year, the population of the world is expected to reach 7 billion by 2010.
The Earth simply cannot provide adequately for such gains! We already are living beyond the Earth's ability to provide adequate food and other necessities for the present population. That is the basic message of this book and it will be bad news, especially for our children and grandchildren, if intelligent action is not begun now to face the ecological and other catastrophes that are on the way.
