Johannes Brahms' G Major String Quartet, op. 111 and Antonín Dvorák's E-flat Major String Quintet, op. 97, scored for identical ensembles and composed three years apart, make for an ideal pairing on disc, made all the more congenial when the musicianship is of the high caliber found on this new OehmsClassics release. Joining violinist Boris Garlitsky, former concertmaster of both the Orchestre National de Lyon and the LPO, are a youthful crop of future noteworthy string players: violinist Jaha Lee, violists Kyoungmin Park and Georgy Kovalev and cellist Philip Graham.
