Moen began his career as a keyboard player in a Norwegian metal band at the age of 13. His interest in jazz became serious when studying at Musicians Institute, Los Angeles and was further developed at Berklee College of Music, Boston."I wanted a band rather than a "Bernt Moen Trio" project, hence the formation of Dualistic.
