He is also in private practice in Belton, Texas, working with individuals, couples, and families. His research focuses on counselor education pedagogy, specifically on finding ways to help counseling students develop therapeutic presence in session. He is the coauthor of the books Counselor Self-Care (2018) and Surviving and Thriving in Your Counseling Program (2020), published by the American Counseling Association (ACA), and The Counselor Educator's Guide: Practical In-Class Strategies and Activities (2020), published by Springer Publishing.
