Peter is a middle-aged political cartoonist, and, inevitably, a cynic. For a number of reasons, not the least of which is desperation, he goes to a meditation center in rural Wales to try and get a new perspective on his life. Initially, the perspective that obsesses him is that of Amanda, an attractive young woman who hasn't yet realized that middle-aged men are explosive hormonal containers just waiting to detonate. He then uncovers the covert mission of the meditators, which is to act as a recruiting agency for an extra-terrestrial civilization, at which point his cynicism proves fatal.
Brian Staff is an Englishman, with US citizenship. He has a PhD in Computer Science and has worked for most of his life in selling or marketing information technology. Brian loves exercising, so most days you can see him in the south bay area of California running along roads and through parks to reach the gym in Morgan Hill where he hits the weight room before swimming lengths in its chlorine-filled pool. When he's not doing that he's either gardening, solving puzzles, playing his guitar, or entertaining Olly, his Old English Sheepdog, with fetch and tug of war. He wrote his first novel at the age of seven for his Uncle Joe, and has now written seven more books which are longer than the first one but only a little more sophisticated. Three of his books have been published and his stories appear in the My Dog is my Hero and Chicken Soup for the Soul anthologies, and several magazines. He has lived in London, Madrid and Edinburgh and has traveled widely and unwisely.
