This book covers Estate Planning in Colorado. which is a person doing legal documents now to control health care, property, money, children, funeral, and more if later the person is absent, sick, or dead. After explaining some law this book has ready-to-use legal forms for Colorado, though most people only use a few of these forms. The Colorado legal forms in the book and available online for free are:
1) Will (Standard) - also called a Last Will And Testament this legal document lets a person control some things after their death like who gets their money and property, who is Executor to after death handle things like any probate process, and say if some easier and cheaper legal procedures can be used later.
2) Will (Guardian) - this is a Will with a part added to name a person as Guardian to if needed care for a child under age 18 (like if both 2 parents die) and also as Conservator to if needed help manage a child's property and money.
3) Self-Proving Affidavit - helps with later work of showing a Will was properly signed.
4) Tangible Personal Property Memorandum - lets a person easily and anytime write some small gifts to occur after death, but it can only cover tangible personal property like cars, furniture, jewelry, tools, and clothes.
5) Handwritten Will - this Will can skip the normal 2 witnesses and be done more easily but it must be all handwritten by the person doing the Will.
6) Medical Durable Power Of Attorney - lets a person name someone as Agent to help control health care and write health care instructions which can help if the person is later incapacitated.
7) Living Will - does the serious action of saying stop most health care if later some doctors think the person is incapacitated and is badly ill and more health care won't help.
8) Medical Orders For Scope Of Treatment - does the serious action of saying immediately no longer try certain health care like C.P.R., and this form is short so it can be read and followed by paramedics and others.
9) Statutory Form Power of Attorney - lets power over money, property, and more be shared during life with very trusted person like a spouse, adult child, other relative, or a good friend.
10) Delegation Of Power By Parent Or Guardian - lets a parent share or guardian of a child under age 18 share power over the child with someone to let them help with the child and make decisions about the child including health care.
11) Declaration Of Disposition Of Last Remains - lets instructions be given and if wanted a person be named to control things involving a person's bodily remains, including a funeral and similar matters.
Also provided is Estate Planning Helpful Information Form which is an unofficial form to give family and friends helpful information about property, money, funeral, last wishes, tips, and more.
