Christmas gets a magical mix-up, Run-DMC-style!
As Christmas approaches, Darryl is exploding with holiday anticipation! But first, he needs a new pair of glasses. A trip to the eye doctor opens his eyes to the many ways people celebrate the holidays. When he tries on their new cultural frames, he sees everything from colorful Hanukkah dreidels to the beautiful Diwali lights. Darryl learns that holiday joy comes in all shapes and sizes.
On his journey to the eye doctor, he also spots the new Fantastic Galactic five-speed bicycle, the perfect Christmas gift for himself. He can almost feel the wind in his hair as he imagines riding it and puts it at the top of his Christmas list. However, when Darryl encounters a homeless boy and his father, his heart changes. With his new perspective on holiday cheer and tradition, Darryl is encouraged to make a selfless decision. He uses his allowance to gift the bike he's had his eye on to the homeless boy. He realizes that the true spirit of Christmas isn't about getting but about giving.
Darryl's Christmas in Hollis is a story about seeing the world through new eyes, embracing diverse traditions, and discovering the joy of giving during the holiday season. This heartwarming tale shows how a single act of kindness can make a world of difference.
Innovator, motivator, and philanthropist Darryl "DMC" McDaniels changed music and made history when he broke down cultural barriers with his legendary band Run-DMC. Forty million record sales later, he continues to inspire and impact the world.
Darryl regularly talks with kids across the country about respect, responsibility, and self-awareness. He has appeared before Congress and various state legislatures in support of adoptees and foster children. In 2006, he co-founded the Felix Organization with Sheila Jaffe, a nonprofit that works to provide inspiring opportunities and new experiences for children in the foster care system.
