In a near-future America, democracy is no longer guaranteed-it is under siege.

Dark State: Democracy's Sunset by Miguel Soto is a powerful, fast-paced political thriller that examines how quickly freedom can erode when power goes unchecked. Set against a backdrop of social unrest, government overreach, and rising authoritarianism, the novel follows Adam Reyes, a systems engineer, and his family as they are drawn into a chilling reality that mirrors the darkest chapters of history.

What begins as a peaceful, ordinary life quickly unravels when citizens are detained without due process, protests erupt across the nation, and the government begins to operate above the law. When masked agents violently abduct Adam, his family is left to navigate a system designed to silence them. His wife Elena, a journalist, transforms from observer to leader, igniting a movement that challenges oppression and calls for accountability.

As fear spreads and resistance grows, communities unite under a shared purpose: to defend their rights, protect one another, and preserve the very idea of democracy. But the cost of defiance is high, and the consequences are deadly.

Inspired by contemporary social, economic, and political tensions in the United States, Dark State: Democracy's Sunset is both a cautionary tale and a call to awareness. It challenges readers to reflect on the resilience of democratic institutions-and what happens when they begin to fail.

Perfect for readers of political thrillers and dystopian fiction, this book will leave you questioning how secure freedom truly is-and what you would do to protect it.
