When you think about great leaders, who comes to mind?
Impactful figures like George Washington, Abraham Lincoln, Martin Luther King Jr., or perhaps Winston Churchill. In a huge organization like the New York City Police Department many great leaders have worn the uniform, particularly in the senior management ranks of captain and above. What leadership traits are required to become an NYPD captain. Is the ability to inspire and motivate required? Must these leaders possess vision to see the bigger picture? Do they need to possess empathy for their team members? Do NYPD leaders need to be innovative and creative?
The answer is that NYPD captains need none of these leadership qualities. All they require are three lucky Saturdays.
Thank you for purchasing my book detailing the early history of policing in New York City.
This is the tenth book in the "Police of New York City" series. This is a change of pace for me as most of my previous works have been memoirs regarding my police career as well as humorous works of fiction.
You can check out all my books on my Amazon Author Page. Again, thanks, and I hope you enjoy reading about this small piece of New York City policing history. I would greatly appreciate a brief review when you have completed the book.
