Formed in the mid 80s in Morecambe, Lancashire, D.A.M. (an abbreviated version of Destruction and Mayhem) were signed to German label Noise Records after impressing with their 1988 demo 'Human Wreckage'. Managed by Paul Loasby, the man responsible for the first ever Donington 'Monsters of Rock' festival, the band gigged heavily around the UK and eventually recorded their debut album at the famed Music Lab Studios in Hannover, Germany, with renowned producer Harris Johns (Helloween, Kreator, Voivod) The debut record was enough to see them touted as one of the major hopefuls of the then burgeoning UK thrash scene, alongside the likes of Sabbat, Onslaught and Xentrix. Their 1989 Hammersmith Odeon performance as part of a bill that included Dark Angel and Candlemass was filmed for the evental '3-Way Thrash' video release. A second album followed in 1991, the excellent 'Inside Out', showcasing a more varied and finely tuned sound. Unfortunately, thrash metal was on the wane, especially as the UK scene had failed to produce an international breakthrough act, and D.A.M. split soon after the release. This release features extensive liner notes from respected journalist Mark Freebase, who spoke at length to vocalist Jason McLoughlin about the history of band, and who also provided rare photos from his personal archive.
