Hiccup Horrendous Haddock III must honor the Viking tradition: being bold, brave, and tough, especially when dealing with dragons. However, Hiccup is everything a Viking shouldn't be--scrawny, not very fearless, and, most of all, far too friendly with dragons. That wouldn't be a problem if he hadn't reached the age of initiation, a grueling test where he must prove he deserves the privileges of his Viking tribe.
If he fails the test, his punishment will be exile. Even so, passing means risking his life. Can our hero beat the odds? Will he manage to train the most unfit dragon ever seen? And can he save his tribe from an unexpected threat?

Cressida Cowell was born in London but spent many summers on an island full of nature and dragon legends. There, she began imagining stories. She studied literature, design, and drawing, and created her first illustrated book at university. Since then, she has been writing and illustrating children's stories. She is the author of Hiccup the Viking, a famous dragon-themed series, and Emily Brown. She loves visiting the island with her family and continuing to dream of new adventures.
