Connie Francis recorded "Never on Sunday" after performing the surprise Oscar-winning song live on the 1961 Academy Awards. The LP reached #11 on the U.S. album charts where it remained for 34 weeks. In the UK, the record also made the best sellers. The other 11 tracks on the LP are title songs from popular motion pictures. Connie was at the peak of her career, having achieved 13 Top Ten hits in four years by the time the LP was released, and would go on to have further hits. "Songs to a Swinging Band" features Connie in a more adult mode swinging numbers from the Great American Songbook. The 3 bonus tracks were only issued on singles.
