Perrault, Charles: -

Charles Perrault (1628-1703) is widely recognized as the father of the fairy tale. A member of the Académie Française, he created the genre by adapting stories from classic folk tales. His works include Sleeping Beauty, Blue Beard, Puss in Boots, Little Tom Thumb, and The Tales of Mother Goose. He was born and died in Paris.

Hassall, John: -

John Hassall (l868-l948), was a watercolorist, designer and illustrator. He studied art in Antwerp and Paris under P. Van Havermaet and William-Adolphe Bougereau. Hassall was an versatile designer: his work includes cartoons, theatre posters, commercial posters, greeting cards, books, and nursery rhymes. His work is influenced by the flat colors and two-dimensional qualities of Japanese prints. He was elected to the Royal Institute of Painters in Watercolours in 1901. He died in Kensington, London.
