From the world's foremost researcher on workplace courage, a guide for getting out of your comfort zone and embracing risk—from speaking truth to power to owning mistakes, stepping up as a leader, and starting a new career.

  • Full of ripped-from-the-headlines stories—from Colin Kaepernick to women who've spoken up about sexual harassment to fascinating, everyday stories from the author's consulting and teaching.
  • Unlike other books—which tend to solely focus on inspirational profiles—Detert breaks down courage into its component parts, and offers clear and practical advice for demonstrating courage in your everyday life.
  • Researched-based advice, based on the authors decades-long expertise on the subject matter.

Audience:

  • Emerging leaders, first time managers, and other aspiring professionals who want to enhance their personal effectiveness and/or sharpen their leadership skills.
  • Readers of books such as Angela Duckworth's Grit and Brene Brown's Dare to Lead.
