In the New York of the near future, society is controlled by the tools of selective law enforcement, managed through the city's information hub. When the Hub's operations are compromised by the sudden appearance of the rampaging and apparently supernatural Storm King, former investigator Gaius Scaevola is called out of retirement to get to the bottom of the mystery. Gaius's investigation takes him into the Wasteland-the abandoned places of the city-and as he renews old contacts, and makes new ones, he finds himself more and more at odds with his Hub superiors and sympathetic to their targets. About 250 pages.
Terence Gallagher grew up in Queens, NY. He studied classics in Massachusetts and medieval history in Toronto, and harbors a general interest in old culture, old customs, old habits, and old ideas. He has a particular fascination with the aftermath of exile and ruin -- the survival and adaptation of culture under seemingly impossible circumstances.
