He is a published songwriter, and his music and songs have been sung and played all over the United States. He has won numerous writing awards including one Communicator Award for News Humor. He started writing when he was 16 years old. His 11th grade literature teacher recognized him as an amazing and aspiring writer. When she signed his yearbook she wrote, "I look forward to reading your writings in the future". Tony penned a Christmas play for his church that was later turned into a local TV production.
