I live by the sea and paint, write and invent new gadgets. I enjoy writing and it is both a pleasure and a compulsion. My dream is for my work to be liked but it is enough to know that my work is in the public domain for all to enjoy. As a child, Maplehurst, Horsham was where I came to spend my holidays and it was my grandmother who brought to my attention the Chanctonbury Ring when we were on our way to Worthing. She told me the stories about the ghosts and that the Devil had made the hill. I looked at Ring in awe and have wanted to write about it ever since. A couple of years ago, I dared to go up there - Martin and I battled our way up the hill in such a strong wind that you could almost lean into it and not fall over. Once inside the Ring the wind dropped and it felt as if it was enchanted and the spirits within the hill were all willing to share their stories. Fortunately the Devil did not appear!
