Four Seattleites--a failed homosexual, a crypto-obsessed mom, a party-girl-turned-caretaker, and an unorthodox professor--are going about their lives when, for each of them, things get messy. Over the course of a year, their jobs, relationships, investments, and even their grasps on reality all seem to go simultaneously south. Then, as the wider world begins to unravel, these neighbors find their stories increasingly interconnected, and they face inconvenient questions about our place on a planet that is fragmented, financialized, and spinning completely out of control.
